Program Overview

The Credit Management & Repair program is an 8-week training workshop that supports participants in gaining the knowledge and skills needed to build and maintain their credit. The program includes instruction on accessing credit reports, understanding credit scores, and creating a personalized plan for credit improvement.

Program Components

What Participants Will Learn

• How to establish strategies to build and maintain credit

• Techniques for accessing and understanding credit reports

• Information and tools to support credit repair

• Confidence and skills to use credit correctly and increase creditworthiness

Participation Requirements

Participants must:

• Provide current credit ratings prior to the workshop

• Authorize STEPS to retrieve credit scores for evaluation at two points:

  • 8 weeks after workshop completion

  • 6 months after program completion
     

Workshop Details

• Format: 8-Week Introduction to Credit Management and Repair

• Day: Wednesdays

• Time: 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM

• Week 1 – Introduction and Course Overview

• Week 2 – The Basics of Credit

• Week 3 – Credit: The Good, the Bad & the Ugly

• Week 4 – Responsible Credit Use

• Week 5 – Types of Credit

• Week 6 – Avoiding Common Credit Risks

• Week 7 – Credit: Know Your Rights

• Week 8 – Protect Yourself
   

(Occasional bonus opportunities may be offered to attendees, such as complimentary event tickets.)

Workshop Completion

Participants who attend at least 7 of the 8 sessions will receive:

• A Workshop Certificate of Completion

• Opportunity for a one-to-one session (if needed) at STEPS’ Resource Office located at 14 South Clifton Avenue, Lakewood, NJ 08701
